In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment
